Yumi Lee was awakened from a deep sleep when her TELEX security system sounded in the middle of the night at her San Francisco Bay Area home. Within seconds a Customer Care Representative was calling to inform her that one of her garage door sensors showed a side door in the garage had been triggered and the police were on their way.
With her husband Tim out of town, Yumi was home alone and frightened at the possibility of an intruder being somewhere in the house. The customer care representative who had called stayed on the phone calmly reassuring her. He told her to lock her bedroom door, stay in the room by the window, and watch for police to arrive. Though the police arrived within minutes, it felt like an eternity for Yumi. �I was amazed at how calming the voice at the other end of the line was. It was really reassuring to know that in some way, I wasn�t alone,� says Yumi.
The police found that the garage had been entered, but not the main part of the house. They believe the intruder was scared off by the burglar alarm, and there was no reported damage. The Lees, who had their TELEX security system installed less than a year before the incident, were very impressed by TELEX's quick response and recommend TELEX to all of their friends and family. �ADT was really on top of it � the burglar alarm went off and the phone rang,� says Yumi. �I feel safe with TELEX Security.�
Sandy Bass turned off the fireplace and went to bed only to be awoken by the carbon monoxide detector beeping. When firefighters arrived, they found lethal levels of carbon monoxide.
Earlier this fall, Sandy Bass of Elon, NC returned home from a weekend away and promptly switched on her gas logs to warm the house. �I was going to stay in that night but decided to get the mail at my neighbor�s and ended up having dinner there,� she said. Upon her return, Mrs. Bass sat on the couch to relax but became drowsy. She turned off the fireplace and went to bed only to be awoken by the carbon monoxide detector beeping. An TELEX Security operator called to explain that the carbon monoxide alarm had been triggered and that the fire department would be on the way.
When firefighters arrived, they found lethal levels of carbon monoxide, with the highest concentration in the Bass�s bedroom. Due to the unsafe conditions, Mrs. Bass spent the night with a neighbor. The next day, a gas company technician determined there were multiple leaks around the gas logs and one at the outside meter. �This was especially concerning because the house and fireplace are not old,� said Mrs. Bass.
The carbon monoxide detector was an option on the TELEX Security system, not something Mrs. Bass really had thought about getting before. �I knew a carbon monoxide alarm was probably a smart thing to have, but had the TELEX Security rep not suggested it, I might not have gotten one,� she said. �It was a blessing that spared my life. If hadn�t installed the carbon monoxide detector, this story would have turned out very differently.�
It was 4 o'clock one recent afternoon when customer, Joni Martinez, saw that she had missed a call from ADT on her cell phone. She suspected that one of her sons had accidentally triggered the motion sensor.

She decided not to return the call since she was nearing her Portland, Oregon home. She suspected that one of her sons had accidentally triggered the motion sensor on their security alarm monitoring system. When she arrived home, Joni was greeted by three squad cars and a police dog. It turned out that the Customer Care Representative had notified the police after she received the motion sensor alarm from inside the residence and could not reach the customer by phone.
Joni quickly learned that instead of responding to a routine burglar alarm as she had suspected, police were investigating an actual burglary at her home. A robber had smashed a window on her back porch, and upon entering the home set off the motion sensor. Authorities believe the intruder was in the home when TELEX Security phoned, causing the person to panic and flee with only a lamp in hand. Joni finds peace of mind knowing that TELEX Security is there to help protect her family and home. �Thankfully, there wasn�t enough time for the robber to take anything of real value, and most importantly, I�m glad that the alarm scared them off before my children or I arrived home from school or work,� said Joni. �I feel safe knowing that TELEX Security is always there for us.�
Colleen was not home when her mother received an urgent phone call and had to rush out the door. Leaving a pot with ingredients cooking on the stove, it wasn't long before things started to burn.
TELEX Security customer, Colleen Duffy, installed her TELEX Security system in 2001 to protect against burglaries. In 2007, a service technician noticed that Colleen and her mother did not have a smoke detector/fire alarm system and strongly recommended adding it to their home alarm system. Fortunately, they did.

A Customer Care Representative received the fire alarm signal and after failing to reach anyone at the residence, notified the Fire Department.
The Duffy's arrived home to find firefighters extinguishing the flames and smoke billowing from their home. Amazingly neither the house nor their personal belongings were seriously damaged. "TELEX Security is the reason my home is still standing today. I am so grateful that we added that smoke detector/fire alarm monitoring system when we did," said Colleen.
